CLP Power and AirTrunk launch Largest REC procurement for Microsoft
This will support Microsoft’s full RE target by 2025.
CLP Power Hong Kong and hyperscale data centre specialist AirTrunk launched the largest site-specific renewable energy certificate (REC) procurement in the market for Microsoft.
In a joint statement, CLP and AirTruck said under the REC, the power generated will be coming from over 200 megawatts of solar power across 17,000 locations in the New Territories.
This will support Microsoft’s goal to reach 100% renewable energy by 2025.
“We are glad to see more corporate customers have committed to larger and longer RECs procurement, demonstrating their commitment to long-term sustainability and supporting local renewable energy development,” said CLP Power Senior Director Customer Success and Experience Lena Low.
