Henderson Land secures Hong Kong’s first biodiversity loans
The facilities will fund urban biodiversity initiatives at Central Yards on the New Central Harbourfront.
Henderson Land Development has completed Hong Kong’s first biodiversity loans with HSBC and Hang Seng Bank to support biodiversity initiatives at its flagship Central Yards development.
The facilities will fund urban biodiversity restoration, conservation, and enhancement works at Central Yards, the group’s mixed-use development on the New Central Harbourfront.
Henderson Land said the loans align with the Green Loan Principles of the Loan Market Association, Asia Pacific Loan Market Association, and Loan Syndications and Trading Association.
Proceeds will be used to procure native plant species, adopt smart systems for the maintenance and management of the planned urban forest, and carry out surveys, assessments, and monitoring to track biodiversity progress at the development.
Central Yards will feature more than 400 trees and a diverse range of plant species across multi-level landscape gardens.
Central Yards will have over 300,000 sq ft of multi-level open green spaces, including Central’s largest sky garden, an approximately 300-metre elevated garden spanning more than 160,000 sq ft.
