ConvenientPower unveils Qi-based hybrid wireless power technology

New Litz PCB to help manufacturers scale up production of wireless power chargers for homes and business.

ConvenientPower, a global leader in wireless power charging, has launched the world’s first Qi-based hybrid wireless power technology, Litz PCB, which will help manufacturers boost volume production and help expand wireless power charging into the mainstream market, especially for homes and businesses as well as cars, hotels and airports.

Affirming its strong growth potential, ConvenientPower also announced that it has received second round investment, which the company said will help accelerate its leadership in the wireless power charging market that is currently valued at US$886 million and projected to grow 700% by end of this year.** Market projections estimate the value of the overall wireless charging ecosystem at US$18 billion.

“The emerging wireless power charging market is growing rapidly. Building on our success in launching the first Qi-based products over the past 10 months, we have developed the new Litz PCB hybrid technology to make wireless power charging ubiquitous in the mainstream market as manufacturers scale up to new levels. This also gives consumers more choices and greater convenience in charging any device, anytime, anywhere,” said Camille Tang, President, ConvenientPower.

“We have listened closely to the market and what customers want are wireless chargers, which are designed to be slim, efficient, deliver robust value and flexible device positioning. Our hybrid technology delivers this differentiating advantage, making wireless charging attractive, easy to integrate for our partners and accessible for consumers – this is the cornerstone of vast ecosystem rollouts,” she added.

ConvenientPower’s new Litz PCB technology was recently approved by the industry’s Wireless Power Consortium as a new Qi-based wireless charger option, expanding the total number of Qi transmitters from three to eight as of July 2011, and further diversifying choices in compatible wireless power chargers.

Qi is the only universal standard for compatible wireless charging where any device enabled with Qi can be charged, without wires, on any charging surface carrying the Qi logo, regardless of brand or manufacturer.

“Today, ConvenientPower holds three of the eight Qi-based universal platforms for wireless power charging – the largest number approved by the Wireless Power Consortium for any company. This, along with the combination of our intellectual property and productization know-how, makes ConvenientPower best positioned to further innovate and deliver new products to market quicker than ever,” said Emmanuel Girma, CEO, ConvenientPower.

“Our Hybrid combines litz wire and PCB technologies to optimize wireless charging platforms. PCB delivers a slimmer module, higher reliability in manufacturing and therefore, offers easier integration of the module and scaling for volume. Litz wire increases the efficiency and lowers the cost, “ Bas Fransen, Chief Marketing Officer, ConvenientPower explained.
