Seven sites to be sold by tender in October-December
Five are residential sites with 1,770 units, and the two are business and hotel sites.
According to a release, seven sites from the 2011-12 Application List will be sold by tender in the October-December quarter to increase land supply.
Secretary for Development Carrie Lam told the media the sites will be sold by tender because the atmosphere in recent auctions was not as enthusiastic as before.
Five are residential sites producing 1,770 units. The remaining two are business and hotel sites, providing 32,700 square metres gross floor area and 750 rooms respectively.
She said the Government is committed to supply more housing land to the market to meet public demand.
The Government supplied land to house more than 9,000 flats in the first half of this financial year.
The fourth-quarter land sale programme consists of two bigger lots in Tseung Kwan O and Tuen Mun, and three low-density residential sites on Lantau Island.
Ms Lam said railway property development projects are another source of housing land supply. Tsuen Wan 5 (Bayside) and Tsuen Wan 5 (Cityside) projects at the West Rail's Tsuen Wan West Station, which can house 3,326 flats, may be put to tender in the coming quarter.
