Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation wins for its integrated smart city ecosystem
The comprehensive framework accelerates the future of innovation by interconnecting facility management, AIoT, robotics, digital services, and sustainability initiatives across its campuses.

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) won the Smart City - Government category at the Hong Kong Business Technology Excellence Awards 2026 for its integrated smart city ecosystem.
HKSTP secured the accolade for its Integrated Smart City Ecosystem, a unified smart campus platform driven by artificial intelligence that transforms its total 240-hectare Hong Kong Science Park and InnoParks into a human-centric innovation community, creating a thriving I&T ecosystem grooming 14 unicorns, over 2,500 technology companies, and more than 17,000 research professionals.
Traditional campus management often faced challenges from fragmented services, manual processes, and limited community engagement, which impacted research and development practitioners. To address these issues, HKSTP launched a unified ecosystem built upon five distinct pillars: Smart Environment, Smart Living, Smart Mobility, Smart Economy, and Smart People.
Building a Sustainable, Smart Environment
To drive environmental excellence, HKSTP deployed a centralised smart facility management platform and an intelligent robot fleet management system operating as central command networks. These systems handle predictive maintenance, virtual robot patrols, and automated work orders – serving not merely as management tools, but as the intelligent digital backbone powering daily operational efficiency.
Sustainability at HKSTP extends beyond regulatory compliance; it is embedded into the culture. Green initiatives, including an intelligent chiller system, rooftop solar panels, and on-site food waste processing, have optimised energy consumption, achieving a 15% reduction in overall energy usage and significantly lowering carbon emissions.
Elevating smart living and mobility
Enhancing daily convenience, the self-developed Super Park App serves as a single digital gateway for thousands of community members. The App provides virtual access cards, visitor management, facility booking, and green rewards.
For mobility, the platform incorporates intelligent transport solutions, including real-time parking dashboards, license-plate recognition, and live shuttle bus tracking, which ease travel friction across the campus.
Fostering economic impact and global talent
Beyond infrastructure, the ecosystem further supports the community through economic and talent initiatives. The platform utilises intelligent matching systems to recommend job candidates to technology firms and bridge the gap between entrepreneurs, global enterprise partners, and investors.
By building a world-class environment where global tenants choose to establish, scale, and thrive, HKSTP reinforces its vision to serve as a scalable model for smart city development across Hong Kong, Asia, and beyond.
