HKIA moves 15 airlines to Terminal 2 starting 27 May
The relication will proceed in phases ahead of the summer travel surge.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) will move the check-in counters of regional airlines, including the city’s three home-based carriers, HK Express, Hong Kong Airlines, and Greater Bay Airlines, from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 in phases starting 27 May.
The full relocation for 15 airlines is scheduled for completion on 10 June, ahead of the summer travel season, according to Airport Authority Hong Kong.
HK Express said it will officially relocate on the last day of completion and welcomed the terminal’s greater capacity and modern facilities, which it said will support more seamless self-service at check-in and boarding as well as future passenger growth.
Airport Authority Hong Kong said Terminal 2 is accessible via multiple public transport options.
Its departure level connects to the Airport Express platform, 29 bus routes serve the terminal, and a covered walkway links it to Car Park 3, a six-storey facility with more than 1,000 parking spaces.
The authority added that preparations for the relocation have been completed and that other passenger facilities will be commissioned according to traffic demand.
