HK Express sees 15% passenger traffic growth over Lunar New Year

It carried over 280,000 passengers during the period.

HK Express recorded a 15% year-on-year (YoY) increase in passenger traffic during the 10-day Lunar New Year travel period from 13 to 22 February 2026, carrying more than 280,000 passengers.

Passenger numbers from the Chinese Mainland rose by more than 50% compared with the same period last year, whilst Hong Kong passenger numbers grew by over 30%.

The busiest travel day was 20 February during the period, with over 30,000 passengers carried, the airline said in a press release.

Inbound passenger traffic exceeded 97,000 during the peak period, representing an increase of over 20% YoY. The largest inbound markets were the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, China, and Korea.

Inbound passenger numbers from the Chinese Mainland rose by nearly 20% following the expansion of the airline’s network to six destinations last year.

Transit passengers connecting through Hong Kong increased by approximately 90% compared with the same period last year. 

Emerging destinations recorded strong YoY growth, with Penang up 118%, Jeju up 83%, and Phu Quoc up 65% compared with the same period last year.
