Gov't receives 35 EOIs for eco-transit project in East Kowloon

It aims to invite tenders in 2026 and award contracts in 2027.

The government has received 35 expressions of interest (EOI) from Mainland and international companies for the smart and green mass transit system project (SGMTS) in East Kowloon.

The Transport & Logistics Bureau and Highways Department launched the invitation for EOIs on 29 August to gather input on the project’s technical aspects. The responses will be analysed immediately to inform the project’s alignment, delivery, and financial structure.

Per the policy address, the government plans to progress the SGMTS project, aiming to invite tenders in 2026 and award contracts in 2027. Insights from the EOIs will also be used to assess whether parts of the planning, design, and construction stages can be accelerated to shorten the project timeline.
