Logistics growth eases to two-month low of 52.1 in August

The slowdown was attributed to weaker transportation activity.

Hong Kong’s Logistics Growth Index slipped to 52.1 in August from 52.2 in July, marking its lowest level in two months, according to the World Research Institute (WRI).

The slowdown was attributed to weaker transportation activity as container throughput returned to negative growth.

The city ranked 21st out of 42 economies covered by the index and 11th out of 16 markets in Asia-Pacific.

The reading remained above the 50 threshold that separates expansion from contraction in logistics-sector activity.

WRI said business volumes also expanded at a slower pace, although goods exports and demand for artificial intelligence-related electronics remained resilient.
