Gov’t expands Southbound Travel scheme to all Mainland GBA cities
It initially covered Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Jiangmen.
The government will expand the “Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles” scheme to all nine Mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area from mid-2026.
The expansion will add Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou and Zhaoqing.
The scheme initially covered Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Jiangmen.
From 15 June, Guangdong vehicles from the five added cities can use the “Park & Fly” service at the Hong Kong Port carpark of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
From 25 July, they can also enter Hong Kong via the bridge, whilst the daily travel booking quota will double from 100 to 200.
The government will also launch a “Park & Visit” service for Guangdong vehicles from all nine cities, allowing each vehicle to stay in Hong Kong for up to three days.
The Guangdong and Hong Kong governments agreed to gradually expand the scheme after considering port operations, road traffic conditions, user feedback and public adaptation.
Both plan to further expand the scheme to all 21 cities in Guangdong by the first quarter of 2027.
