Biostime revels in lower 5% import tariff

Prices of its mported infant formula will dip.

According to Maybank Kim Eng, the Ministry of Finance announced that the import tariff for imported infant formula will further lower from the 10% to 5% effective 2013, following the reduction from 20% to 10% in 2012.

It also noted that import tariff for imported baby food will also decrease from 15% to 5%.

"We believe the move will benefit Biostime most as it imports all of its infant formula products and baby food from overseas. We estimate that a lower import tariff to boost Biostime’s GPM by 0.8%/0.7% in FY13/14F and to increase our earnings estimates by 3%/2% in FY13/14F," the firm said.
