Housing Bureau, NAMI ink MoU on construction technologies
The collaboration includes developments on intellectual property management, patent protection, and technology licensing and commercialisation.
The Housing Bureau (HB) and Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 17 July for the establishment of a complete innovation ecosystem in the construction industry.
The partnership aims to hasten the validation and application process of new building materials whilst creating a sustainable technology development model through patent protection and commercialisation mechanisms.
Developments on intellectual property management mechanisms, patent protection, and technology licensing and commercialisation will be established through the collaboration.
A portion of the revenue will be reinvested into a new round of research and development.
Winnie Ho, the Secretary for Housing, said that the HB hopes this cooperation can inject more innovative and technological power into Hong Kong's construction industry by providing a practical verification platform through public housing.
At the same time, the collaboration with NAMI will explore the establishment of a broader partnership network to actively develop international markets and position Hong Kong as a regional hub for construction technology intellectual property, reinforcing its role as a "super connector."
