Gov't launches $200m port system for real-time cargo tracking.
The platform features a single-entry function for multi-agency trade declarations.
The Transport & Logistics Bureau has launched the Port Community System (PCS), a government-developed digital infrastructure supported by more than $200m in funding.
The system features real-time cargo tracking and connects sea, land, and air transport networks.
In addition, it provides value-added electronic services such as the ‘One-Data-Multiple-Declarations’ function for local logistics and trading companies.
At the launch, the bureau also signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding with the Logistics & Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre and local logistics startup FUNDel to facilitate data connectivity between the PCS and industry platforms.
The partnership will also study the use of trusted cargo flow data on the PCS to support financial institutions’ assessment of trade finance applications from logistics small and medium-sized enterprises.
