Sophia Chong to step up as HKTDC executive director in October

Leading SMEs continue to develop globally.

Deputy executive director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Sophia Chong was appointed to be the next executive director with effect from 1 October, succeeding Margaret Fong who is about to retire, said HKTDC on Wednesday.

Chong served the HKTDC for more than 30 years and is currently responsible for exhibition and digital businesses.

Chong will lead HKTDC to support Hong Kong small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to explore business opportunities internationally via its global network after she became executive director.

"Sophia is an innovative, resolute and wise leader. Over the years, she has worked closely with small- and medium-sized enterprises (“SMEs”) with a view to enhancing Hong Kong's commercial and trade influence with remarkable achievements,” said Frederick Ma, Chairman of HKTDC.
