Old Age Living Allowance slated to make debut in April
There'll be three phases of applications.
According to a release, the Social Welfare Department plans to launch the Old Age Living Allowance in April, and applications will be implemented in three phases.
Beneficiaries of the first phase will all be existing and former Normal Old Age Allowance recipients who previously met the financial requirements at the time of application. Notification letters informing them of the arrangement will be issued by the end of February.
The second phase is targeted at existing Higher Old Age Allowance recipients and Normal Disability Allowance recipients aged 65 or above. The department will issue notification letters later to inform them of the arrangement.
Those not currently on Old Age Allowance or Normal Disability Allowance can apply for Old Age Living Allowance in the third phase from April. The department will announce details of the simplified application procedures in February.
