The 50,000-seat facility hosted the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament from 28 to 30 March.

The newly launched Kai Tak Stadium has officially opened with the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament, which drew more than 110,000 fans.

The 50,000-seat facility hosted the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament from 28 to 30 March, followed by four sold-out concerts by British rock band Coldplay on 8-12 April.

The events drew strong attendance, with the rugby tournament welcoming over 110,000 spectators and the concerts receiving positive feedback from both local and international attendees.

Audience members cited the venue’s modern infrastructure, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and seating arrangements, as contributing factors to their experience.

With the successful debut of both sporting and entertainment events, the stadium is seen as part of Hong Kong’s broader efforts to expand its role as a regional hub for large-scale events.

Upcoming performances at Kai Tak include JJ Lin’s “JJ20” World Tour on 24–25 May and Jay Chou’s Carnival World Tour on 27–29 June.

The Hong Kong Football Festival 2025 is also scheduled for July, featuring top European clubs such as Liverpool FC, AC Milan, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.
