Lab reports now available in eHealth app
This allows users to access their records anytime.
eHealth users can now access laboratory records from general routine check-ups via its mobile app, the Health Bureau announced.
The Hospital Authority and the Department of Health will deposit these records into the app 14 days after the reports are released, with the app's information centre issuing notifications to users.
The bureau is also collaborating with private healthcare providers (HCPs) to build more comprehensive medical records for residents.
Currently, 75 healthcare service locations—including private hospitals, laboratories, and medical group practices—are technically ready to submit laboratory reports to eHealth, the bureau noted.
If users provide sharing consent to private healthcare providers, their laboratory reports will also be deposited into their eHealth accounts for access via the app.
With recent enhancements to the app's "Investigations" feature, laboratory reports from public and private healthcare providers, along with records from various government-subsidised healthcare programmes, are consolidated in patients' eHealth accounts.
This functionality allows users to access their records anytime, removing the need for storing paper reports and saving costs on redundant tests. This also facilitates authorised HCPs in conducting analyses and comparisons.
The government launched the eHealth Adoption Sponsorship Pilot Scheme in 2023, partnering with clinical management system (CMS) vendors and medical groups to improve system integration. This initiative allows private healthcare providers to seamlessly deposit medical records into eHealth directly through their CMS platforms.
The bureau reported positive outcomes from the pilot scheme and plans to expand it this year to include more CMS solution vendors, medical groups, and sectors, including Chinese medicine.
