10, 000 applications received for Guangdong scheme

It'll be implemented on 1 October.

According to a release, the Guangdong Scheme, which allows Hong Kong retirees living in Guangdong to receive their monthly old age allowance of $1,135 without returning to collect it each year, has received about 10,380 applications so far.

The Social Welfare Department will implement the scheme from October 1, and eligible citizens over 65 who have submitted applications will receive the allowance from that day.
