Hong Kong rises to 4th in global digital competitiveness ranking
The city posted strong gains in technology and future readiness.
Hong Kong has moved up three spots, placing 4th globally in the World Digital Competitiveness Ranking (WDCR) 2025 by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD).
Among the three assessed factors, Hong Kong ranked 3rd in technology, 5th in knowledge, and 10th in future readiness, up by five places from 2024. At the sub-factor level, it ranked 1st in technological framework and adaptive attitudes, and within the top five for talent and for education and training.
The Government said the result reflects Hong Kong’s continued progress in innovation and technology (I&T) development. It noted ongoing projects, including three I&T parks and five research and development institutions, aimed at expanding I&T infrastructure.
The Hetao Shenzhen–Hong Kong Science & Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone is scheduled to begin operations this year. The Conceptual Outline for the San Tin Technopole development plan will also be released this year.
