Hong Kong ranks 13th in global talent cities index
Leading cities remain key hubs for capital, talent, and decision-making despite rising talent and operating costs.
Hong Kong ranked 13th globally in the Savills 2026 Global Talent Cities Index, reflecting its position as a major business hub in Asia.
The index evaluates leading global business hubs across five pillars: talent pool, liveability, competitive landscape, business environment and resilience, and business cost advantage.
In Asia, Hong Kong ranked behind Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, and Shanghai, based on the index chart. It placed ahead of Kuala Lumpur, Shenzhen, and Bengaluru.
Savills classified Hong Kong as a fast-track market, alongside Singapore and Australia. These markets offer clearer routes for companies prioritising speed, lower execution risk, and operational certainty.
The firm said cities near the top of the index continue to serve as global command hubs for capital, talent, and decision-making, supported by deep talent pools, dense corporate ecosystems, venture capital networks, and high-quality office space.
Savills said companies are increasingly adopting “talent-first” location strategies, choosing cities based on access to skills and business needs rather than asking workers to relocate.
However, the report noted that cities with deeper talent pools are often amongst the most expensive places to live and work, creating challenges around hiring costs, competition for skilled labour, and retention.
Savills said demand for prime office space is expected to continue in leading global cities as businesses maintain hubs for senior decision-makers, clients, capital, and talent.
