Gov’t signs agreements to ease meat, dairy exports to Mainland China
Safety checks cover production to transport.
The Environment & Ecology Bureau and the General Administration of Customs (GACC) have signed two agreements to simplify the export of meat and dairy products from Hong Kong to Mainland China.
Environment & Ecology Secretary Tse Chin-wan said the agreements set inspection, quarantine, and hygiene standards for these products, allowing compliant Hong Kong-made meat and dairy goods to enter the Mainland market.
“Upon implementation of the arrangements, Hong Kong-manufactured meat and dairy products meeting the requirements set out in the co-operation agreements will be allowed to be imported into the Mainland,” said Tse.
The agreements require strict monitoring of food safety from raw materials to production, storage, and transportation.
The Centre for Food Safety will work with the GACC to finalise details and hold seminars to help businesses understand the new requirements.
