Baxter Healthcare receives HKB Technology Excellence Awards 2024 for smart technologies

The company highlights its commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovation.

Healthcare company Baxter Healthcare clinched the Smart Technology - Healthcare Technology category win during the HKB Technology Excellence Awards 2024 for its innovative technologies that address the needs of highly vulnerable patients.

Amongst these technologies, the iLED7 surgical light, the Progressa® bed system, and the Starling system are therapeutic devices that act as a seamless extension of the health care team.

iLED7 Surgical Light utilises the latest 3D sensor technology to eliminate unwanted shadows. The light pattern size and intensity stay the same regardless of the distance between the surgical lamp and the surgical site, reducing the need for manual adjustments. This allows surgeons to have a clearer view during surgeries and reduces distractions.

Reflecting Baxter’s commitment to providing the latest technology across the continuum of care — from the operating theatre to intensive care and high dependency unit — the Progressa® bed system helps support early mobility and is intended to be used to treat or prevent pulmonary or other complications associated with immobility.

The bed system’s flexibility allows patients to configure the bed to their current needs and make upgrades as those needs change. It also includes reminders and alerts that may help caregivers comply with protocols and increase efficiency.

Another technology Baxter Healthcare has introduced is the StayInPlace, which accommodates the elongation of patients and helps address patient migration, as managing this task is physically demanding and time-intensive.

Meanwhile, the Starling System delivers fully non-invasive and flexible technology that works across the care continuum, including intensive care and high-dependency units. This meets the dynamic and real-time needs of fluid monitoring.

“The critical care environment, especially the intensive care unit and high dependency units, are becoming more demanding and complex each year. Baxter’s technologies, therapies, and insights address these needs,” the company said.
