Transport & Housing chief wants MTR safety to be probed

This is all about South Island Line.

According to a release, Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung says the Government has asked the MTR Corporation to explain whether allegations reported in a newspaper regarding trains made for the South Island Line are valid.

Speaking to reporters , Prof Cheung said the Government expects the highest standards of safety and maintenance on Hong Kong's railway network, and the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department will test the trains' safety.

He said the safety requirement for the South Island Line is the same as that for all lines on the MTR network.

The MTRC must submit its report within three days.
