CHI Residences offers high-tech mobile city guide

‘ask Ting-Ting’ services extended by luxury serviced apartment group to guide tourists around Hong Kong.

Luxury serviced apartment operators CHI Residences is extending its high-tech services by offering mobile city guides ‘ask Ting Ting’ to show guests around Hong Kong.

The ‘ask Ting Ting’ interactive program features over 600 recommendations including sights and tours, bars, clubs, cinemas, karaoke parlours, theatres, sports and recreation facilities and shops. Users can also choose from over two hours of video content presented by Malaysian TV presenter Sarah Lian and scripted by a Hollywood-based writer.

“The newly invented ‘ask Ting Ting’ is essentially modern-day versions of a traditional guidebook, yet up-to-the-minute with latest information and incorporating all the communications functions that today’s travellers expect,” said CHI Residences owner and operator, Pilar Morais in a CHI Residences report.

The CHI Residences management team renowned for its commitments in providing their guests with a ‘home-away-from-home’ level of service, believe that the ‘ask Ting Ting’ is a natural extension of their philosophy.

“The devices will provide our guests with the convenience of an innovative, unique, and entertaining service enabling them to feel connected to the local community. Our guests are usually in Hong Kong for an extended period of time and we truly believe that to make them feel at home they have to be able to discover the neighbourhoods in a safe and straightforward way. We already have a CHI Neighbourhood Guides for our residents, and we’re extending now our services using mobile technology”

The developers of ‘ask Ting Ting’, Mobile Guide (HK) Limited, also believe their inventions will enable CHI Residents to discover Hong Kong in a more exciting way and are pleased that guests of the luxury serviced apartments will be offered the service.

“Our devices will help CHI Residences’ guests to easily and safely get around town and learn about Hong Kong’s vibrant culture and hidden treasures”, says Matthias Hendrichs, Founder and Managing Director of Mobile Guide.

“They will also help CHI Residences’ guests to connect and communicate via its phone and online function and make them feel at home”.

Hendrichs continues: “CHI Residences is an ideal partner for ‘ask Ting Ting’ as we share the same philosophy and values. We enjoy the energetic yet caring spirit of CHI Residences and we look forward to being part of their growth journey. Both of us provide services to Hong Kong travellers to help them experience this city of diversity. Being away from home, we support them to balance their busy lives by creating escapes to an oasis of personalized relaxation. We offer value, convenience and comfort – and we do that in style”.

CHI Residences is initially introducing the hand-held mobile city guides on a complimentary basis at its four properties – one on Hong Kong Island and three in Kowloon. Providing unlimited local calls and internet access, the smartphones are preset with critical numbers for the police, taxi services and CHI Residences’ concierge. The newly-invented devices are even programmed to guide guests back to their apartments with a “take me home” function in case they get lost.

This latest technological initiative to appeal to savvy travellers follows state-of-the-art ‘green’ internal communication solutions introduced at CHI Residences to further promote timely, efficient and paperless communications in line with a commitment to encouraging a greener lifestyle.

CHI Residences opened its flagship luxury service apartment complex on Hong Kong island in 2008 at 120 Connaught Road West. In the past two years the group has also launched three serviced apartment complexes in Kowloon – at 393 and 279 Shanghai Street in West Kowloon, and an art deco-inspired residence at 314 Nathan Road, Jordan.

Scheduled to open in early 2013 is its first new build tower project in Hong Kong at 130 -136 Johnston Road, Wan Chai.
