It is likely to improve in July.

Small and medium-sized enterprises’(SME) diffusion index (DI) on business receipts dropped to 41.6 in June from 42.1 in May 2025, said the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) on 10 July.

DIs on business receipts by sectors also dropped in June, notable sectors include business services’ 3.8% slump to 43.5 and retail trade’s 3.6% decrease to 39.8.

The C&SD expects DI on business receipts in July to be 45.4

“The ongoing uncertainty in trade policies in the external environment continue affecting business sentiment,” said a government spokesman, “but the resilient local economy and steady growth in the mainland economy should provide support.”
