Hong Kong accounts for 45% of second-hand toy sales in Asia

It is the second highest earner from secondhand item sales in the region.

Hobbies and Toys are the second top-transacted category for secondhand items across Asia, and Hong Kong accounted for nearly 45% of regional transactions, according to Carousell’s 2024 Year-in-Secondhand insights

According to the report interest in toys surges each July, driven by summer holidays and events such as Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong. Through secondhand toy transactions alone, Hong Kong users saved the equivalent of 1,291 tonnes in carbon emissions, comparable to 2,947 return flights from Hong Kong to Tokyo.

Hong Kong users earned approximately $6,800 this year from selling secondhand items—the second highest in the region after Singapore.

The top five searches in Hong Kong for secondhand items are PS5, Chiikawa, iPad, iPhone, and Switch.
