Construction works rise 4.1% to $72.4b in Q2
Public sector output grew 6.2% in nominal terms to $33.6b.
Hong Kong’s total gross value of construction works performed by main contractors rose 4.1% year-on-year (YoY) in nominal terms to $72.4b in the second quarter, according to the Census and Statistics Department.
After adjusting for price changes, construction output increased 2.2% in real terms over the same period.
Public sector construction works grew 6.2% in nominal terms to $33.6b, and 2.5% in real terms.
Private sector works inched up by 1% to $17.5b. In real terms, output fell 0.8%.
Construction works carried out at locations other than construction sites, including repair, maintenance, decoration, and electrical installation works, grew 3.3% in nominal terms to $21.2b.
Residential building projects recorded $22.3b in construction works during the quarter, up 7% YoY. Transport projects edged up 0.3% to $8.3b.
