FEHD to auction 642 public market stalls in April
Stalls include food, electronics, and more.
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced that open auctions for 642 stalls across 46 public markets will be held throughout April.
Stalls not taken at the auctions will be available for rent at their upset prices on April 22 on a first-come, first-served basis.
The auctioned stalls will include categories such as cooked food, fresh and frozen meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, ready-to-eat food, pet products, electronics, and more. Tenancy agreements for successful bidders will be a three-year fixed term, starting 1 May, with no renewal option.
The upset prices for the stalls will vary based on their size, location, and vacancy period, with prices set at 80% of the open market rent (OMR) for stalls vacant for over six months and 60% of the OMR for those vacant for over eight months.
The auctions will take place on specific dates and locations. The first auction for Kowloon (except Lai Wan Market) will be held on 8 April in the morning, with 101 stalls available. The Lai Wan Market auction will follow in the afternoon on 8 April with two stalls up for bid. On 9 April, Kowloon (except Lai Wan Market) will have two separate auctions, one in the morning with 46 stalls and another in the afternoon with 28 stalls.
Moreover, on 10 April, the New Territories will host an auction in the morning with 126 stalls. Hong Kong Island and the Islands District (except Aberdeen Market) will have an auction on 11 April in the morning with 118 stalls, whilst Aberdeen Market will hold an auction in the afternoon with 21 stalls.

Admission to the auctions is limited, and tickets will be issued 30 minutes before the start of each session. Attendees must register at the venue with a valid Hong Kong identity card or passport. Eligible bidders will be given a bidding paddle. The Police and the Independent Commission Against Corruption will be present to ensure fairness.
