AEON Stores’ Kowloon flagship store opens in Lai Chi Kok

The store becomes the largest GMS in Kowloon and the new territories.

AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited (“AEON Stores”) announced on Wednesday that its first Kowloon flagship store, JUSCO Lai Chi Kok Store, is to open at Aqua Marine in West Kowloon. The flagship store is the Group’s sixth GMS in Hong Kong, which has commenced trial operation today with its grand opening scheduled for 7 January 2012. The new store commanded a total investment of over HK$70 million funded by internal resources.

The three-storey JUSCO Lai Chi Kok Store occupies an area of approximately 240,000 sq ft, carrying a wide variety of food, fresh ingredients, house wine from around the world, and trendy apparel as well as healthcare and household products from Japan. Apart from licensed franchisees and restaurants, the new store is the first GMS of the Group to house Chinese restaurants and its own brand TOPVALU specialty store. It aims to offer more diverse choices to customers at reasonable prices and create a convenient, enjoyable one-stop shopping experience for customers in both Kowloon and the New Territories.

JUSCO Lai Chi Kok Store, a 10-minute walk from the Lai Chi Kok MTR station, is located in a residential district with numbers of large residential properties, supplemented by a well-developed transport network. Since the opening of the Eagle’s Nest Tunnel, it takes only a short 15-minute drive from Shatin to West Kowloon, which enhances the attraction to customers in the New Territories. In addition, ancillary facilities including parking spaces and a battery charging service for electric vehicles are provided to consumers who drive to this new store. These features together with the prime location mean the new store is well-situated to tap enormous business opportunities and development potential, according to an AEON Stores report.
