Estate agents face new requirement

It involves sale or lease of second-hand residential properties.

Estate agents are now required to provide the saleable area information to clients when handling sale or lease of second-hand residential properties, according to the Estate Agents Authority.

The EAA Administration met with representatives of the eight estate agency trade associations and reminded them of the implementation prior to the 1 January 2013 effectivity date.

In addition, SMS and emails were sent to over 30,000 licensees about the practice circular.

The EEA said updated “questions and answers” are also available online.
