Large-scale stress test at Kai Tak Sports Park conducted smoothly
Over 50,000 civil servants and members of the public participated.
A large-scale stress test held at the Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) today, with over 50,000 participants, was successfully completed, meeting its expected outcomes and objectives, according to the government.
The test assessed KTSP’s readiness for hosting large events, including managing crowds, entry and exit procedures, and public transport. Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki observed the exercise.
More than 50,000 civil servants and members of the public participated in the test, marking the highest number of public participants for such an exercise, with a wide demographic representation. All three venues at KTSP were used during the test.
VIP arrivals were also simulated to improve coordination among stakeholders and refine contingency plans.
The "Easy Leave" platform, which uses AI to analyze real-time crowd data, was tested to help spectators find the best exit routes and ease pressure on public transport.
Several government departments and organizations, including the Police, Fire Services Department, Transport Department, Civil Aid Service, Auxiliary Medical Service, MTR Corporation, and KTSP, participated in the exercise.
The government emphasized that the results of the stress test would help refine crowd and traffic management strategies, improve spectator experience, minimise disruptions to the surrounding community, and ensure the successful operation of future large-scale events once KTSP officially opens on 1 March.
