Hang Seng Bank warns of phishing emails, fake website

The bank reminded customers that it will never ask them to log in through embedded links.

Hang Seng Bank has warned of phishing emails claiming to be from the bank.

The emails carry links that lead to a fraudulent website with the following domain name:

‘hxxps://mr[.]gov[.]ua/hg/login[.]php?&return_url=f18513a3ec25f02f1d4b1d4ff348589f &enrolmentID=f985843ff4d1b4d1f20f52ce3a31581f?securessl=true’ 

The phishing emails reportedly use various reasons to prompt recipients to enter personal or account details through the fraudulent website which displays the bank’s logo.

“The bank would like to inform members of the public that it has no connection with these emails and fraudulent websites. Hang Seng will never ask customers to log in to their Personal e-Banking, or to provide personal information such as their HKID number, e-Banking login credentials, credit card credentials or one-time passwords through embedded links, instant messaging apps or similar channels,” Hang Seng Bank said in an official statement.

Members of the public are warned not to access any links when they receive phishing SMS messages or emails related to fraudulent websites and should not disclose any personal or other information to the sites.
