The subsidy covers 10 high-demand fields.
The Education Bureau announced that the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors will fund 4,781 places in 57 undergraduate programmes for the 2026-27 academic year.
This includes 3,425 places in first-year, first-degree programmes and 1,356 places in top-up degree programmes offered by eight post-secondary institutions.

Among these, 16 applied degree programmes will receive additional subsidies aimed at enhancing the vocational and professional education pathway at the post-secondary level.

For applied degree programmes, which include additional subsidies, the total annual amounts will be $89,620 for laboratory-based programmes and $51,880 for non-laboratory-based programmes.
The subsidy applies to new and continuing students for the normal programme duration.
