Youth orchestra to unveil debut of 'The Flying Dragon'

In celebration of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's 15th anniversary.

In a government release, the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra will present the premiere performance of Hong Kong composer Joshua Chan's The Flying Dragon to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Under the batons of conductors Ng Ka-ming, Pak Wing-heng, Joseph Kam and Joshua Chan, about 100 members of the orchestra and the Junior Chamber Ensemble will perform in the annual concert.

The performance will also feature Fire Torch Festival, with the rich flavour of Yunnan folk music, and Czech composer Dvorak's enchanting Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88.

The Hong Kong Junior Chamber Ensemble will guest perform Mozart's Symphony No. 38 in D major, K 504 'Prague' from the opera Don Giovanni.

The orchestra’s annual concert will be held at 3pm on November 18 at the Cultural Centre. Tickets priced at $80, $60 and $40 are available at URBTIX.
