Gov’t names new SFC appointees

The new appointees will serve a term of two years.

The government announced that the Financial Secretary, under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, has reappointed Michael Wong Yick-kam and appointed Tony Tang Xiaodong as non-executive directors of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

The new appointees will serve for a term of two years, starting from 1 April and 24 April, respectively.

A spokesman for the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau highlighted Tang’s experience in financial services and understanding of capital market operations and regulations in both Mainland China and Hong Kong.

The spokesman also highlighted Wong’s contributions to strengthening corporate governance at the SFC and expressed anticipation for his continued involvement.

The SFC, chaired by Dr. Kelvin Wong Tin-yau, also includes Non-Executive Directors Vincent Chan Chun-hung, Chew Fook-aun, Victor Dawes, SC, Johnson Kong Chi-how, Keith Pogson, and Dieter Yih Lai-tak.
