Fewer than 40% of Hongkongers trust business leaders
The report also found a wider societal pessimism.
Only more than three in 10, or 37%, of Hongkongers trust business leaders —compared to the global average of 44%— signalling lower confidence in their organisations' future, according to an Ipsos report.
The report also found a wider societal pessimism, where only 33% of residents feel optimistic about Hong Kong’s future.
“We see similar trends in other East Asian economies like Japan and South Korea, but the challenge for Hong Kong is to cultivate a unique and resilient workplace culture,” Javier Calvar, head of the Customer & Employee Experience Practice at Ipsos HK, said.
Moreover, artificial intelligence’s growing influence reveals a gender disparity, with both men and women optimistic about its potential, yet women, particularly those in senior positions, are significantly more concerned about job redundancy.
"This is compounded by the concentration of women in roles more susceptible to automation and a perceived vulnerability when balancing career and family life,” Calvar said.
