OHKF proposes six policies to improve senior living in Hong Kong
The recommendations follow its latest eldercare policy research report.
Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) is proposing six policy recommendations to improve Hong Kong’s senior living environment in its latest eldercare policy research report.
The report, titled “Policy Path to Ageing in Place for Hong Kong: Shaping an Inclusive Housing and Community Landscape”, recommends enhancing seniors’ access to home modification services to improve safety and accessibility in existing homes.
It also calls for the adoption of inclusive design standards, the creation of favourable conditions for private senior housing development, and measures to improve the quality of life for community-dwelling seniors.
Additional recommendations include promoting the sharing of community resources and facilities through intergenerational use and flexible space planning.
Lastly, the report advocates for the implementation of “Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper” (LQC) solutions to improve age-friendliness in communities efficiently and cost-effectively.
