Menstrual blood not reliable for cervical screening, Health dep’t says
The DH stressed that all screening methods have their limitations.
The Department of Health said that there is no global scientific evidence to confirm the reliability of using menstrual blood for cervical screening.
This is in response to claims by businesses that menstrual blood can be collected and mailed to a laboratory for Human Papillomavirus testing.
The DH stressed that all screening methods have their limitations; therefore, screening results should only be used as a reference and cannot substitute a professional diagnosis.
Moreover, the public should consult healthcare professionals to develop an appropriate health assessment plan and to undergo examination at suitable medical institutions.
