140,000 recruited for chronic disease screening: Secretary Lo
Of this, 80,000 have completed screening.
The Chronic Disease Co-Care Pilot Scheme has recruited 140,000 people, with 80,000 having completed all the screening, said Secretary for Health Prof. Lo Chung-mau on 19 July.
Of the 80,000, around 32,000 were found to have high blood sugar or hypertension.
Launched in November 2023, the scheme provides Government-subsidised screening and diagnosis for citizens above 45, with neither known medical history nor high blood sugar or hypertension.
“We have right now 640 doctors joining and they have close to 900 service points for our participants to get the service. Of course, there is room for improvement," he added.
“We will be making measures and considering reviewing the current programme with the intent to improve it, to encourage more doctors (to) participate as well as people. But right now I think this is very encouraging.”
