Hong Kong and GCC explore further collaboration in financial services

The first Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Chapter was held at the Asian Financial Forum to explore further collaboration in financial services between Hong Kong and GCC countries.

Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Christopher Hui, described Hong Kong as a ‘super-connector,’ linking Mainland China, Asia, and global markets, amid the Middle East's increasing interest in international investments.

He also noted that the region's progress in green and sustainable finance aligns with the GCC countries' focus on growth areas such as green energy.

Potential areas for cooperation include the securities market, Islamic finance, and asset and wealth management.

Meanwhile, a panel discussion addressed the status of financial connections between the GCC and Hong Kong, as well as emerging areas of cooperation and new opportunities.
