Hong Kong and Dubai form working group to strengthen financial market ties

Their key initiatives include sustainable and Islamic finance.

Hong Kong and Dubai financial regulators and exchanges have formed a working group to develop joint initiatives in sustainable and Islamic finance, as well as capital markets connectivity.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd., Dubai Financial Services Authority, and Nasdaq Dubai announced the Strategic Working Group on 10 September at the HKMA-DFSA Joint Climate Finance Conference.

HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue said the group would provide a formal mechanism for the two markets to align strategic priorities and develop initiatives to facilitate trade and investment between Asia and the Middle East.

“By developing this collaboration mechanism, we are establishing a dedicated platform to better understand and align strategic priorities,” Yue added.
