HKEX launches new funding scheme for local NGOs

It will extend some $10m for short-to-medium term local community projects.

The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) will be extending $10m for its new HKEX Impact Funding Scheme.

The programme, under the HKEX Foundation, sought to fund short-to-medium term local community projects of local NGOs.

In particular, the projects covered should focus on four key themes, namely: financial literacy, diversity and inclusion, poverty relied on, and environmental sustainability

HKEX noted it will target the “most needy” and support innovation in service and solution provision for key social and environmental challenges.

“This new Impact Funding Scheme will enhance our outreach, channeling another $10 million to support small proactive charities, without other major support, to run projects that bring positive changes to our community,” HKEX Chairman Laura M. Cha said.

The new scheme is on top of $174m the Foundation has channeled to those in need in Hong Kong amongst other areas in the last 12 months.

The HKEX Impact Funding Scheme will be managed by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services. The application is open until 11 August.
