Jobless rate falls to 3.8% as labour force shrinks
Total employment stood at 3,672,700 or up 1,800 from the previous months.
Hong Kong’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 3.8% from August to October 2025, from 3.9% in July to September, the Census & Statistics Department announced.
Total employment stood at 3,672,700, down about 1,800 from the previous three-month period.
Meanwhile, the labour force also decreased by around 7,800 to 3,822,300; and under-employment rate remained at 1.6%.
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun said the solid expansion of the Hong Kong economy, along with improvements in business sentiment and a gradual recovery in consumption confidence, should give support to the labour market, a government announcement said.
