Hong Kong Trade Development Council bags two major wins at the HKB Technology Excellence Awards 2022

Its GoGBA digital platform offers wide-ranging support to help SMEs navigate business opportunities in the GBA.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) took home two major awards for Mobile - Public Organization and Online Services - Public Organization categories at the recently held Hong Kong Business Technology Excellence Awards 2022 for its brand new GoGBA one-stop platform that supports companies doing business in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The GoGBA digital platform helps Hong Kong SMEs navigate GBA business opportunities by providing market intelligence through a dedicated website and a WeChat mini programme, offering a variety of support and advisory services, and organising online and offline promotion events throughout the year with support from the Hong Kong SAR Government and by leveraging the HKTDC’s strengths.

In addition to policy updates and market intelligence, the website and WeChat mini programme also offer practical business tools, including public health updates, maps, transportation guides, and a day counter that helps users comply with individual income tax requirements.

Since their launch in June 2021, the GoGBA website, mini programme, and related WeChat channels have received a total of more than 480,000 organic visits. The mini programme as an aggregator app is a ground-breaking innovation that other existing applications of its kind are capable of bringing together official information and policy updates from all major official content sources across the GBA, and offering practical tools updated in real-time to facilitate business travel.

The GoGBA one-stop platform has created new opportunities for Hong Kong SMEs and international businesses facing unprecedented challenges amidst the pandemic and disruptive changes in global trade.

The project also enabled the HKTDC to be a pioneer in Hong Kong for promoting GBA opportunities and offering support to Hong Kong SMEs and international companies tapping into the GBA.

The HKTDC fully demonstrated its commitment and great versatility when faced with unfamiliar challenges in developing the mini programme. It proactively sought solutions to overcome technical constraints and successfully secured the support of relevant government departments and agencies in Mainland China and Hong Kong government departments, as well as several important strategic partners.
