Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation recognised at HKB Greater Bay Area Enterprise Awards 2025

The company was named the General Insurance awardee for its comprehensive export credit insurance services.

With its latest accolade from the HKB Greater Bay Area Enterprise Awards 2025, the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation (HKECIC) has proven its unwavering commitment to supporting Hong Kong exporters in exploring the Greater Bay Area (GBA) market and providing them with timely support in managing credit risks in a volatile trade environment.

The HKECIC offers comprehensive trade credit insurance services to protect Hong Kong exporters against non-payment risks, helping them seize opportunities in global markets, including Mainland China, and fostering stronger trading connections within the GBA. In 2024, HKECIC’s insured business in the GBA achieved remarkable growth, with Mainland China emerging as its largest insured market.

The HKECIC aims to support businesses of all sizes by tailoring insurance policies for diverse needs. Recognising that numerous SMEs are entering the cross-border e-commerce sector and facing challenges in securing financing, the HKECIC launched a market-first trade credit insurance solution for Hong Kong e-commerce merchants. This solution utilises alternative data, such as merchants' performance on e-commerce platforms, to assess risks and provide insurance cover for financial institutions. It encourages financial institutions to pursue more e-commerce loan-related business and offers SMEs an alternative funding solution backed by credit insurance cover.

In addition to its core insurance services, the HKECIC collaborated with Dun & Bradstreet to launch the first “HKECIC - D&B Export Credit Risk Index” in 2024, which provides an indicator to reflect market sentiment relating to export trade and export credit risk in major markets/industries, aiming to support Hong Kong exporters in better understanding the global business environment and identifying potential market risks.

Looking ahead, the HKECIC will continue to monitor global and regional economic trends and formulate strategies and measures to support Hong Kong exporters in credit risk management, trade finance, and business development. Through these efforts, the HKECIC aims to encourage and support export trade, assisting Hong Kong exporters in grasping business opportunities in the development of the GBA.
