Cathay Pacific’s passenger count grows 25.2% YoY in June
It set a new post-pandemic record of carrying over 90,000 passengers on 28 June.
Cathay Pacific's passenger volume rose 25.2% YoY to 2.3 million passengers in June 2025.
The airline attributed the increase to inbound student traffic from the United Kingdom and the United States and its recently launched services to Rome and Munich, which ,according to Cathay, have been well received by their customers.
The airline’s available seat kilometres (ASKs) also increased by 26.2% YoY in June 2025.
Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, also highlighted that the airline had set a new post-pandemic record by carrying over 90,000 passengers on 28 June. On the same day, it also set the airline’s highest single-day load factor (93.4%) so far this year.
In the first six months of 2025, the number of passengers Cathay Pacific carried increased by 27.8% compared with the same period for 2024.
Cathay Cargo also saw increases. It carried 6.3% more cargo in June 2025 than in June 2024, whilst its available freight tonne kilometres (AFTKs) increased by 5% YoY.
Its load factor decreased by 1.1 percentage points YoY.
In the first six months of 2025, the total tonnage increased by 11.3% compared with the same period for 2024.
Moreover, HK Express reported carrying more than 580,000 passengers in June 2025, an increase of 16.5% YoY, while its ASKs grew by 32.1%.
In the first six months of 2025, the number of passengers HK Express carried increased by 33.5% compared with the same period for 2024.
“In addition to launching flights to Cheongju, Daegu and Miyako (Shimojishima) in June, HK Express has also announced new routes to Guiyang launching at the end of this month, Kuala Lumpur (Subang) in the beginning of August, and Kota Kinabalu in November,” Lau said.
