Cathay Group posts $3.7b profit with stable half-year results
The Group’s associates recorded a loss of $181m
The Cathay Group has reported a profit of $3.7b for the first half of 2025, matching its performance in the same period last year.
The airline group also announced that it has exercised purchase rights for an additional 14 Boeing 777‑9 aircraft, bringing its total commitment for the long-haul model to 35.
The interim result was supported by increased passenger capacity and volumes, lower fuel costs, and a resilient cargo business, according to the company.
These gains were partly offset by lower yields. The Group’s associates recorded a loss of $181m, an improvement from the $342m loss in the first half of 2024.
Cathay declared a first interim dividend of $0.20 per ordinary share, amounting to $1.3b, the same payout as in 2024.
