Air Pacific Fiji launched third direct service to Nadi

The current flight schedule operates Mondays, Thursday and Saturdays, said Air Pacific.

Air Pacific, Fiji’s international airline commenced twice weekly direct Hong Kong to Nadi, Fiji services on 3 Dec 2009 and from 13 Dec 2010 launched a third direct service.

We have seen consistently impressive results since the route was launched in December 2009 with passenger numbers for December 2010 up 86% and January 2011 up 82% respectively. There has been more than 50% increase on the previous year for travel in March 2011. Through both increased above the line investment in conjunction with Tourism Fiji and increased airline partnerships, Air Pacific looks to support this growth even further.

Partners

Air Pacific currently codeshares with Cathay Pacific on the Hong Kong to Nadi and return service and Cathay Pacific provides feed traffic from UK/Europe and the majority of other Asian ports into Fiji and beyond.

Air Pacific has also put into place fare agreements with Hong Kong Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Air China, Asiana Airlines and other carriers to provide feed into Hong Kong and beyond to Fiji and the South Pacific.

Currently 52% of total traffic between Hong Kong and Nadi is point to point traffic vs. 48% of total traffic either travelling from other destinations to Fiji, or from Hong Kong through to other destinations in the Pacific Islands.

In-roads

Air Pacific has also held joint training and workshops in conjunction with Tourism Fiji to encourage greater destination awareness, with the next Fiji Forum taking place 23 March 2011 at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

As a result of the close working relationships with carriers, Air Pacific has seen good growth from areas such as Russia on account of the transit times and Hong Kong services.

With finalisation of new airline agreements over time, access from new markets to the Pacific Islands will be made much more convenient over Hong Kong which will develop both through traffic and stopover traffic. Air Pacific is able to provide quicker feed from Asia to the Pacific Islands as a result of the Hong Kong service and this has visibly allowed both Asia and the South Pacific to encourage new markets for both business and leisure.
