Transport, storage sector totals $755.6b of receipts in 2024
The segment contributed $197.3b in the city’s GDP.
Total receipts of the transportation, storage, and courier services sector amounted to $755.6b in 2024, representing an increase of 12.5% compared to the previous year, the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) said.
On a per-company basis, total receipts increased by 14% year on year to $27.6m in 2024, the C&SD added in its 2024 economic activity survey for transportation, storage, and courier services sector.
The sector’s contribution to Hong Kong's GDP increased by 12% YoY to $197.3b in 2024. On a per-company basis, industry value added $7.2m during the period, or an increase of 13.4% YoY.
The largest contributors to growth were air transport and service activities, cross-border water transport, land passenger transport, other transportation support activities, and land freight transport, the agency said.
They accounted for 87.5% of the industry value added to the transport sector, it added.
C&SD estimated that the sector comprised about 27,300 companies and engaged about 209,900 persons, or an average of 7.7 persons per company, in 2024.
