Immigration Department eases e-channel eligibility at HZMB port

Residents aged 18 and above can now enrol directly at designated e-Channels.

The Immigration Department has relaxed eligibility requirements for its Pilot Seamless e-Channel service at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port, effective immediately.

Under the revised rules, permanent residents aged 11 and above with a valid smart identity card can enrol if they have arrived in or departed from Hong Kong through the port’s Passenger Clearance Building at least six times in the past 90 days.

Eligible residents aged 18 and above can now enrol directly at designated e-Channels at the HZMB port, in addition to the Contactless e-Channel mobile app.

Passengers will receive an on-screen prompt when using designated e-Channels and can opt to enrol in the Seamless e-Channel service whilst completing immigration clearance.

Once enrolled, passengers can use the service for subsequent departures.

Since its launch on 25 June, about 14,000 eligible permanent residents have enrolled in the service, with total passenger throughput exceeding 100,000 trips.

The department said it will continue to review the system’s operations and collect performance data to assess whether the service can be extended to other immigration control points and expanded to other passenger groups.
